18th Jan 2013

Venue: University of Nottingham

Date: 21-22 May 2013

This workshop aims to introduce synthetic biology to a broad UK plant science base. Speakers at the workshop will present a range of synthetic biology applications, from synthetic molecules to whole plant engineering, and will introduce synthetic biology methods, tools, and resources. There will also be time for open discussion about what the plant science community needs to take synthetic biology in plants further.

It is important for UK plant scientists to consider synthetic biology, both as a tool for understanding and furthering basic science and as a means of producing commercially important plant products. The BBSRC has chosen synthetic biology as an important emerging scientific sphere, so learning about and getting involved in the field will help the community make the best of future funding opportunities.
